Episcopal Church Women – Upcoming Events
St. Andrew’s ECW is sponsoring a table at the Surviving & Thriving Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon, Thursday, October 15, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the College Station Hilton. Phyllis George is the guest speaker. This event is always educational, entertaining and inspirational. Our table seats 10 and at the time of this writing three have been reserved, so do not delay! Add your name to the sign-up sheet in the Parish Hall and drop your check by the office or in the alms basin in the amount of $30.00 made out to St. Andrew’s ECW.
The Episcopal Church Women’s 108th Annual Meeting and Retreat will be held October 16 & 17, at Camp Allen. This year’s diocesan meeting is hosted by St. Mark’s, Houston; the theme for the retreat is “Stepping up, Answering the Call.” The outreach project for this year will benefit St. Vincent’s House in Galveston. There are many wonderful workshops to choose from, to rejuvenate and inspire, including one led by our own Kathleen Phillips! You may sign up for the full conference, including lodging and meals, or for one or both days and commute. Deadline for registration is October 5th and forms are available in the Parish Hall. Please add your name to the list of attendees; this list is not for registration purposes, but to know who is attending should we need to arrange carpools. There is also a box in the Parish Hall for St. Vincent’s House. Tangible needs of this ministry include nonperishable food, pop top canned food that does not require cooking, small toiletry items (hotel/travel size) for women and men, new or “gently used” pre-school books and educational toys for ages 2-5. Please drop you donations and they will be delivered to Camp Allen for you.
Our next ECW meeting will take place on Saturday, October 24th, in the Parish Hall. We will meet at noon for lunch (please bring a sack lunch) and a brief meeting followed by a Chrismon Workshop led by Joyce Perkins. Please be part of making something beautiful for our church. Young ladies of the parish, our future ECW members, are most welcome to attend! All materials will be provided; no previous needlepoint experience is needed.
