Our calling as the Church is to equip, empower, and send God’s people into the world. Each of us is called to embody the love of Christ in our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and communities, sharing the Good News of Jesus through lives of compassion, service, and faithful witness.
This mission is made possible through the generosity of our parish family. Saint Andrew’s is supported almost entirely by the free-will gifts of our members. Those gifts sustain our worship, ministries, outreach, pastoral care, formation, and the daily work of the Church. It costs approximately $1,725 each day to support the ministry of Saint Andrew’s at its current level, and every gift—large or small—helps us continue sharing Christ’s love with our community and beyond.

Bequests
A bequest through a will is the most common type of planned gift, and does not draw on assets during a donor’s lifetime. Bequests can be estate distributions of cash, securities, real estate, or personal property. Types of bequests include a percentage bequest, a fixed-dollar bequest, a residual bequest, and a contingent bequest. Important estate tax savings may result from a bequest.
Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTS)
CRTs allow a donor to make a gift to Saint Andrew’s, Bryan, while at the same time achieving several other financial objectives. When you create a CRT, you irrevocably transfer money, securities, real estate, or other assets to a trust that will then pay you an income for life or for a period of years. If you wish, the trust also can pay an income to another beneficiary. At the death of the surviving beneficiary, the remaining principal in the trust goes to Saint Andrew’s, Bryan. Several types of CRTs allow the donor to tailor their gifts to best serve their own needs.
Life Insurance
Many donors choose to give life insurance policies to the Foundation either as an immediate gift or as a provision upon their passing. This can be an easy way to make a gift to Saint Andrew’s, Bryan, without revising your will and may have advantageous estate tax consequences. Donors may make Saint Andrew’s, Bryan either a beneficiary or an owner and beneficiary of a life insurance policy. Donors who consider giving life insurance policies do so because they have no heirs or because they already have made provisions for beneficiaries through other financial vehicles. Retirement Plans
Donors may consider making Saint Andrew’s, Bryan, a beneficiary of a percentage of their pre-tax qualified retirement plan, such as an Individual Retirement Account, 401k, 403b or Thrift Savings Plan to name a few. This is done via a beneficiary designation form. These pre-tax assets are received by a qualified non-profit free from income tax liability, leaving other tax friendly assets available to pass along to your family and other heirs. Haswell Legacy Society
The Minister of the Congregation is directed to instruct the people, from time to time, about the duty of Christian parents to make prudent provision
for the well-being of their families, and of all persons to make wills, while they are in health, arranging for the disposal of their temporal goods, not neglecting, if they are able, to leave bequests for religious and charitable uses.

What is Stewardship?
The word describes the practice of caring for something that belongs to someone else. The Bible calls us to be stewards of the resources and creation given to us by God.
What is the annual pledge campaign?
As part of stewarding the ministry that has been entrusted to Saint Andrew’s, each fall we have a pledge campaign to invite members to make a financial pledge for the next year’s annual operating budget.
What is a pledge?
An annual pledge is a financial commitment, made in thanksgiving for God’s gifts, that supports the church’s operating budget in the coming year.
When I make a pledge, what will the money be used for?
These gifts go towards the church’s operating budget. This includes all the expenses required for the day-to-day ministry of Saint Andrew’s including a full-time priest and staff salaries, worship expenses, insurance, utilities, and maintenance to our buildings. It costs approximately $1,725 a day for Saint Andrew’s to operate.
How much should I give?
The Episcopal Church teaches the Biblical tithe of 10% as the standard of giving in thanksgiving for what God has given them.
Why is Saint Andrew’s talking about money? Isn’t that personal?
Our whole lives belong to God. Talking about money is personal and spiritual because how we spend our money is a symbol of our values and priorities. Money is required for Saint Andrew’s to operate and is almost entirely supported by the financial gifts of its members, so it is something we need to talk about.
When do I start giving?
The church is asking you to make a pledge or financial commitment, letting the Treasurer know what you plan to give during the fiscal year.
What is the Matthias Gift?
Named after the 13th Apostle, the Matthias Gift is the addition of a “13th payment” to one’s regular 12-month annual pledge.
How can I submit my pledge?
Online using the above form or via a physical pledge card available from the church. Pledge cards may be returned in the offering plate, via mail, or at the church office.
How do I make my gifts?
There are several ways:
- Give securely online using the form above.
- Set up a recurring gift using your bank’s online bill pay service.
- Mail or drop off a check to the church office with “Pledge” on the memo line.
- In church on Sunday, place a check or cash in the offering plate at any of our services. If giving cash, use a GIVING envelope from the pew rack, and be sure to write your name on the envelope.
- Give using Venmo (@SaintAndrewsBryan). Note that Venmo will deduct a 1.9% transaction fee from all gift amounts. For every $100 gift via Venmo, the church will receive $98.
- Prepay for the entire year by contacting our Financial Administrator, Mark Hafley, in the church office.

What other ways can I financially support Saint Andrew’s?
One way is to remember Saint Andrew’s in your will. According to The Book of Common Prayer, it is “the duty of Christian parents to make prudent provision for the well-being of their families, and of all persons to make wills, while they are in health, arranging for the disposal of their temporal goods, not neglecting, if they are able, to leave bequests for religious and charitable uses.” All those who remember Saint Andrew’s in their will are eligible to become members of the Haswell Legacy Society.
